I am Jennifer Augé, MA, Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA), and I can help:
Are you unhappy with the path you are on? Are you feeling disconnected from the people in your life? Do you want to build, strengthen, or repair your relationships? Are you struggling with issues such as trust, intimacy, infidelity, or jealousy? Often in life we know we are dissatisfied, but are perhaps not sure why, and are even less certain about what to do to change it. This impacts our functioning, self-esteem, and ability to deal with life's challenges. Change is difficult -- it requires reflection, intention, effort, decision, and commitment.
My work is rooted in existential philosophy -- specifically, the idea that each of us must bear the responsibility for making our lives meaningful. The focus of our work together will be on the present and future, rather than on the past. The past is important, but primarily in the sense that by understanding where we've come from, we are better able to understand where we are now and where we are going in the future.
My therapeutic approach is relaxed, conversational, and collaborative, and I believe there is a place for humor in our work together. My stance is one of openness and acceptance, with respect for you and your experiences, and a belief in your ability and desire to grow and change.
My aim as your therapist is to offer a different perspective and to support you as you increase self-awareness and make conscious choices. We will examine attitudes, beliefs, and life patterns that may be impacting your functioning, self-esteem, and ability to deal with life's challenges.
