Trained in psychology (Ph.D. from Cornell University), Dr. Ransen has mastered many areas of psychology during his 32-year career. He also earned an advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, the only fully-accredited program in Florida. Dr. Ransen earned his psychology Bachelors degree from Clark University, the nation’s first graduate school, and the first to award a doctor’s degree in psychology. Teaching has always been one of his passions, and he has taught psychology at five universities, including Tulane University, The Harvard Medical School, and Cornell University. He has published numerous articles in some of the world's most respected journals, as well as informal pieces in publications like The New York Times and Scientific American. He is an active member in good standing of the International Hypnosis Research Institute, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and a member for many years of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Ransen was trained in individual and relationship counseling by master therapists known and respected around the world. In 2011, Dr. Ransen became certified to practice unrestricted clinical hypnosis / hypnotherapy in Florida and elsewhere.
